Your first visit to Clarenville Dental Care
If you are booking your first appointment with the clinic, this page answers the practical questions that come up most often — what to bring, what to expect, and how to make the visit as smooth as possible.
What to bring to your first appointment
Having the right information ready makes the first appointment easier for everyone. You do not need to memorise anything — just bring what you have and we will take it from there.
- A valid government-issued photo ID
- Your dental insurance card or policy information, if you have coverage
- Your CDCP (Canadian Dental Care Plan) information, if applicable
- A list of any medications you currently take
- Any dental records or X-rays from your previous dentist, if available
- Notes on any current concerns, pain, or questions you want to discuss
What to expect when you come in
A first visit typically starts with a conversation about your current oral health, any concerns you have, and your dental history. From there, the dentist will complete a clinical exam and, in most cases, take diagnostic X-rays.
If time permits and it is clinically appropriate, a professional cleaning may also be completed at the same visit. Before you leave, the dentist will walk you through any findings and discuss what follow-up — if any — is recommended.
- Health history review and discussion of current concerns
- Full clinical exam including gum and bite assessment
- Digital X-rays when clinically indicated
- Professional cleaning when appropriate
- Clear explanation of findings and next steps
Insurance and payment at Clarenville Dental Care
We work with most major dental insurance plans and the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Here is what new patients commonly want to know.
CDCP Accepted
We are a participating provider for the Canadian Dental Care Plan. We bill the program directly — you do not need to submit claims yourself. Bring your CDCP information and we will handle the rest.
Private Insurance
We work with most major dental insurance providers. We recommend calling your insurance company before your visit to confirm what your plan covers. We can provide a treatment estimate in advance when needed.
No Insurance?
Patients without insurance are always welcome. We will provide a clear cost estimate before any treatment begins so there are no surprises. Call the clinic if you have questions about fees before booking.
We are currently accepting new patients — no referral required.
